Over 1 million encounters since 2006!
Since 2006, Knoxville Area Project Access has coordinated more than $400 million dollars in donated health care to more than 34,000 low-income East Tennesseans without access to health insurance or government-sponsored program. KAPA coordinated over 85,000 medical encounters in 2022. 99% of all patient appointments are kept by KAPA patients.
KAPA patients receive a full continuum of care administered by a network of over 2,900 physicians and providers, along with all area hospitals, who donate services to help our neighbors in need.

Knoxville Area Project Access is a broad-based community charity created to provide access to health care for low-income, uninsured individuals in 23 East Tennessee Counties.
KAPA is a program under the leadership of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Foundation. The KAM Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, the medical society for Knox County physicians. In January 2017, KAPA began expanding its services to include social service barriers in a pilot called KAPA Connects. These barriers include housing, transportation, food, drug/alcohol dependency, and health literacy. - $5 provides $130 in donated care, navigation services, and case management services for our neighbors in need.
- $10 provides a month of medical education for 50 patients
- $100 provides a day of diagnostic services for 11 patients.
- $1000 provides 1 day of specialty care for 62 patients
